Does love has any definition.

Yes, love have definition, in fact it has many definitions. It is a subjective topic. I have my definition, you can have your own.

Love is to care for someone without showing them how much we love them. It is a feeling which is the base of all the relations we have. Love is an experience which can be only felt.

Your parents needn't say "I love you" to express how much they love you. Neither your brother nor sister need to tell you that they love you. But, they care for you. Maybe, they will show as if they hate you but they love you more that you can ever imagine.

Your Pet will not say " I love you". It will come and show you what's love. It can only be felt like all the beautiful things of this world.

What advantages that women have over men?

  1. They will beat us in arguments.
  2. If we point our finger before the argument then the battle is lost without a dignified fight:P
  3. Issues are not forgotten but buried. They come to surface even after 6 months to make a point and beat us.
  4. "Tears"- If you made her cry then either you are screwed or you will melt down.
  5. "A lie from a women is truth unless proved otherwise. A truth from a man is a lie unless proved otherwise" (#Jasleen Kaur's case)
  6. Good Memory to remember every minute thing to precision.
  7. A Girl's  intuition is incredible. Hat's off!
  8. Girl's make good detective. In-built feature in many girls I know.
But, the biggest advantage is that they can be a MOTHER, we can't. When ever I hide something from Mom, she says, I know you for 9 more months than your Dad, you can fool him, but not me. True!

Respect!

Travel Diary: A day well spent in Mumbai

Roaming in Mumbai like a Nomad

Disclaimer:- If you are expecting something extraordinary, Please don't read further as it is damn ordinary a way to build life time memories without going beyond the city limits.

Place- Mumbai

It was the eve before the EID holiday and I wondered what to do. Luckily, I asked a friend and she suggested that I can go to meditation centre or amusement park.  She encouraged me to treat myself with fun and eat heartily. It was her idea to try a new restaurant and have my favorite food. Her  ideas really inspired to make the holiday a memorable one.

So, I asked my friend cum roommate to go on a fun outing that night. He asked me to plan and I told that we are going to experience and build memories. The vision was clear but we had no missions, no targets. I wanted to roam like a nomad and really I did that. So, glad to share the experience with all of you.

We decided to keep our plans flexible and not to over plan so we decided that we would tentatively go to Haji Ali ( Dargah of a Saint) , Mahalaxmi Temple, Chor Bazar ( Good for buying antique items) , Dhobi Ghat, Dharavi (biggest slum of Asia- lots of cottage industries are there and it’s a place worth a visit). Also, we decided to try new restaurants and would not mind going to far off places just to experience tasty food at new restaurants and build memories.

We shortlisted Cafe Mysore and Madras Cafe for Breakfast in Matunga and we thought that we would have lunch at Stadium at Church Gate.

Now, when we left our flat at around 10 AM and went to a nearby temple which is just in front of our apartment’s gate. It was strange to know that my friend who worships twice a day has never been to that temple and he is staying in the same area for last 7 years.

I went to that temple for a few times on special occasions like when my parents came, on my birthday, on getting appraisal and things like that. Really, we take things which are around us for granted. We carve to go to far off places and realize that the locality where we live is unexplored. Same goes for people, there are times, we often tend to forget people who are with us always like our siblings, parents, etc and we keep chasing and pleasing everyone but them.

We went to Matunga by Local train and then we walked toward our shortlisted restaurant, Café Mysore.

On the way we stopped at two Ganesh Mandap and enjoyed it. Also, I saw an artist who was making the idol of Lord Shiva, Maa Parvati and Ganesh ji. I wanted to talk to him but he didn’t knew Hindi or English and I didn’t knew Tamil. We spoke by sign language and I took the photos and thanked him. I appreciated his ongoing work by showing my thumb up and he responded with his smile.
Pic-An Artist making statue

The Café Mysore has a tiny entrance and it looked like “Khoda Pahad nikli Chuhiya” (Dig Mountain to find a mouse). But, trust me the experience was awesome. The Rawa Masala Dosa we ordered was awesome and the sambhar was a class. It was one of the best that I have ever eaten.  The restaurant claims it to be really old and it’s a delight.

And, Filter coffee was awesome. My Mangalorean Friend was showing me how to drink it like a Pro :P

Then we went to Haji Ali and Mahalaxmi temple.
Pic: The road to Haji Ali which in in the sea. Wow!

The Mahalaxmi Temple had long queue and we were a bit tired so we skipped that and went to a Ganesh Mandap that was awesome. Its theme was “Beti Padhao Beti Bachao” (Save girl child and educate her). The decoration of the Mandap was done with the thermocol art work with beautiful quotes and art work. I was full of energy by seeing all that.

We were so thirsty that we drank lemon water, cold drinks in excess. When I am in office, I don’t realize what thirst is. Really travelling teaches and makes us experience many things. We took rest in a Temple which has benches to sit. It is a good feeling to stay inside a less crowded temple.
We went to Churchgate and there we first strolled to Aquarium. It was a tiring walk as the sun was on our head. But, we wanted to experience to walk rather than taking a taxi (you know Vitamin D :P). In the Aquarium, the long queue for ticket was moving at a snail’s pace. Finally, after a wait of half an hour, we got the tickets.

The aquarium was worth the visit. There were different kinds of fishes in different glass aquariums. The best thing was that the fishes were kept in an environment that resembled their natural habitat. It was a treat to the eyes. It made me realizes that there are many things to learn and experience in this world. The aquatic life is so amazing. All look so different from each other, Horse Fish, Snake Fish, Ribbon Fish, were just some new name added to my dictionary.

After that, rather than dining at any of the good restaurants in South Mumbai, we went to Sion to relish our favorite Tandoori chicken at a Punjabi Restaurant. But, I was duped by the taxi driver and I was poorer by 800 bucks by the dirty trick used by him (Read here How a taxi Driver duped me and made my day memorable?).

We feasted on our favorite items and enjoyed the meal. We came back to our place by 10:30 PM. It was a 12 hour slot full of fun, thrill, adventure, betrayal, happiness, randomness, craziness, etc.

You don't need lots of money to be happy. All this costed 1000 bucks for two people. It was another thing that I lost 800 bucks to white collared robbers.  It was thought provoking, inspiring and real. I wanted to make this a memorable day and I was successful in doing so. It feels great!

You don't have to do different things but you can do things differently to make them memorable and interesting.

Yes, it was outside the comfort zone ( Travelling in Local Trains, walking for 2-3 kms in sun, talking to strangers, finding beauty in small things are all out of my comfort zone) Thanks for your time!

What scares People a lot?

His Boss called on the intercom during lunch time and asked him to meet immediately.

He wondered why his Boss was behaving a bit differently. He went to his cabin. His Boss was having a paper in his hand and with a serious note on his face, he offered him to take a seat.

He was expecting a transfer notice. It could have been an appraisal letter. But, the usual smile from the boss was missing.

Boss: (on a serious note) "What is your expectation in your appraisal?"

He: ( trying to be confident) I expect to be a Top Performer again and get a promotion this time.

Boss: (Paused) took a deep breath and said that the market is getting tougher and the company is trying to lay off those who have not performed well.

He: (Wondering why Boss was telling this to him, he was not an underperformer)

Boss: "I don't know how to tell you but I have to say this" ( he pauses..)

He : (Restless) What happened sir? Please tell me directly as the suspense is killing me.

Boss: (Gives a letter and shook hand) Congratulations! you have been promoted. And you are a Top Performer. Well done!

He : (Relief) Sir, why you made me feel like I am a reality show contestant and I am in safe zone now.

They laughed and he came out smiling. Sometimes, Bosses do try different things to scare employees.:)

Best Gifts from my Parents

Having a little brother and/or sister

When I was 4, my Mom was expecting a baby. She asked me, " What do you want, a brother or a sister?" I replied, " Mumma, I am the youngest, I want a brother to play with". And, my wish was granted.

When I was 6, my Mom asked me again. " Do you want a brother or sister". Mom, I want a sister. (I have heard Mom telling Dad that she wanted a daughter. She prayed alot for that. So, I knew what I wanted.)

On reflecting, I cannot find any greater gifts from my parents. The best gifts I have got is in the form of my dashing brother and cute sister.

My Life is beautiful because of them. As a kid, we used to fight alot, I would tease my siblings and they would pull my hairs. But, now things have changed. We die for each other.

We three are in 3 different states in East, West and South making a triangle with all the sides more than 1000 km. :) We have leave at different times and the deadly combo when we all were together last time was more than an year ago.

It was a fun filled vacation. Earlier it was our way of life to stay together, now it's a luxury. :(

Some words of wisdom for Men

Avoid making fake profiles to lure women. They are somebody’s daughter, friend, sister.

Disclaimer: No offense to real men

I am blessed with a sister. I don't know who is interacting with her online or neither should it be my business. But, in last few days, I have learned something from a girl's perspective which is really disturbing and shocking for me ( for the brother in me).

I have a friend who is like a little sister. She asks for advice sometimes and I am presenting some shocking revelations which disturbed me a lot.

Once she removed her display picture (DP) and hence I asked her what happened? I felt that she was influenced by a person who is an IITian and he also doesn't have a DP.  HE was showing godly qualities. I checked his profile and found that it was FAKE. Yes, someone was using the name of an IITian who already exists but was not on that social network. I was in a fix. How do I tell her that the guy she is interacting with is not a genuine guy?How will she react? I was feeling awkward but I cared for her and so I had to risk her ire. Thus,  I googled to find something to support my case. What I found out was more shocking and heartbreaking.

A 21 year old Hyderabad man had made fake profiles on Facebook (posing as a teenage girl) and had befriended teenage girls of Hyderabad. He used to earn the confidence of the girls and they would reveal their secrets to him. Later, he would blackmail those girls and would ask for money and obscene photos. The teenage girls had a tough time as they have not seen the world. They thought that they are sharing their secrets with another girl online but they were screwed up.

I am trembling with the thought of what those girls have faced and experienced at a tender age. What was their mistake? They made friends online. They are not mature enough to know what to share and what not to share online. Who teaches that? Nobody! So, we cannot blame those girls. They are innocent. They were daughters, friends and sisters of someone. Someone looted them while they were interacting online.  It must have been a terrible experience for them.

A brave girl revealed this to her parents and they lodged an FIR and then the Police caught the culprit. I have seen his photo. He is not a criminal by looks. He just looked like any of the decent boys you see around you. After all, our face is not the mirror of what is in our mind.

I am an elder brother. I have never told my sister about this. I feel so awkward to talk about these with my sister. But, this answer is for her and all the girls who trust me. Here on Quora, I have talked with many girls, mostly younger like my little sister. I have got awesome response from them. I thought the reason was that I was genuine. How they knew? God know! They trusted me. I know, I lived to that trust but what if I am a wolf with hidden agendas? No one can know what’s going on my mind.

Today, my friend told me about a guy who greeted her as sister and when she was interacting with him, he started asking personal questions and she got suspicious. When, I explored, I found out that it was his modus operandi to pose as a teenager and approach girls. Then he would start getting comfortable and would befriend them. I found out that he was blocked due to this kind of activity is past and girls have blocked him for being a stalker.

Now, I have made friends here on Quora, consider them as sister and how should I make sure that they can differentiate between those who are genuine or fake. I never knew that girls had to face so much of troubles at times.  Sometimes, I am glad that I am not a girl; I bow at them for facing many serious issues without making a fuss.

I hereby suggest some ideas to help my sisters here to differentiate between the real and fake guys.

  1. Google their name and their job, college, school or whatever details they have provided to find out if they are the real ones. (Still, this is not full proof. Anyone can have an account on my name and put my dp)
  2. Do not reveal anything personal that may be dangerous must not be revealed to anyone online. In many of my answers, I have encouraged people to make friendship with strangers. But, It was my perspective from a man’s point. I never thought of this fake profile business.
  3. A girl’s instinct is powerful, use that wisely but it can fail to judge as dirty minds keep on evolving and transforming their ways and means.
  4. Use the features of Block and Report generously and don’t shy from blocking me if I infringe your private space.
  5. Never talk about your personal life. Only indulge in intellectual discussions. But, still, this is fallible. Some guys pose as an intellectual and would try to impress the girls. (You have all right to put me in this category right now… I am also a stranger for all of you)
  6. I thank all the girls who responded to my messages and I always expect to be trusted. But, how can I ask someone to trust me and not XYZ. I am really disturbed that few people are flocking here as if it is a dating site.
People may pose as a victim to earn your sympathy and befriend you. I am soft hearted myself and I don't know how to differentiate between fake and real at times.

People go by looks of DP here on Quora. My friend had done an experiment in her own small way. I refused to accept her logic but secretly, I have started feeling  that some people do get influenced by DP, in other words they follow girls with pretty DP.

I am only 3 months old on Quora. I wrote to Ellen Vrana one day and she helped me a lot during my initial days! I asked her how can I pay back and she responded that I can mentor others. So true! I have many friends here and I mentor them and they mentor me. I am not ashamed to be mentored by some 5 years younger to me because age is just another number. There is something to learn from everyone.

Please suggest ideas to make sure that our girls are not duped by someone with a fake profile. I will keep updating the answer.

Always let a few trusted people (friends, cousin and siblings) know about whom you are interacting with online. May be it can help as people who love us, care about us.

Boys are not bad nor girls are bad. We have to learn to weed out the idiots and make this place a better one. Thank you! Apologizing for hurting sentiments of anyone. This is my small contribution in the direction of making girls aware of the cyber crime. But, the world is still beautiful. Stay careful, safe and happy always!

Treat other girls like you want your sisters to be treated. You can't be there for your sisters so please take care of other's sisters and then you have the right to expect that others will respect and care for your sister.

I'm 32. Is it too late to be married?

I know someone who is 60+ and had never married till recent past. He is a struggling actor and a family friend.

All his life, people failed to convince him to marry and when they lost all hopes, one a blue moon he asked that I feel lonely and I want to marry.

I got to know that he got married couple of months ago. There were eyebrows but, the fact is he is married now.

Moral: There is never too late for something.

We often take Trust for granted

Trust ( not everyone is trustworthy)

Couple of hours ago, a Taxi driver cheated me and made me poorer by 800 bucks. That may be a small figure. But, I was duped in a strange way.

Location- Sion, Mumbai

I along with my friend entered a Taxi to go to a Punjabi Restaurant in Guru Teg Bahadur Nagar. The Taxi Driver got curious and asked us questions like from where we came to relish Punjabi cuisines and things like that.

He was a Punjabi and had an acquaintance with him who was also a Punjabi. They started smooth talking and then the acquaintance who sat near the driver asked me for change of 1000 bucks.

I gave him two note of 500 rupees. But, he instantly produced two 100 rupees note and told that Son, I gave you a thousand rupee note and you gave me two hundred rupees note.

It was dark in the cab and he was damn confident. I thought that I might have made a mistake so I promptly took back the two hundred rupees note and apologized to him and returned his 1000 rupees.

I was getting suspicious but the men talked so decently that pointing fingers without proof was out of question. Before, I could decide, my stop came and I got down and when I check my wallet, I learned that I had initially given 2 five hundred rupees note.

He duped me of 800 Rupees. I am sharing this here so that others can know about this modus operandi. There is a stigma attached with being cheated but I am not ashamed as I have not cheated him, rather they cheated me and I was caught off guard. I was not prepared for this from such polished men.

I felt slightly bad for the money part for a minute but they made me realize the following things just for 800 rupees.
  • Never get into a taxi when their is someone else other than the driver. Please do remember. Really risk for our safety.
  • I wanted to say that he was lying but it took me 2 minutes to decide whether he really duped me. It happened because both men were mid-aged punjabi men. I have high respect for the punjabis and I thought they would never beg or steal.  But, they were just two white collared robbers and it has nothing to do with they being punjabis.
  • It is always risky to confront people in a secluded place, they might have weapons and I am not James Bond. I would prefer to let the money go and come home safely.
  • I first thought that I would forget what happened. I don't like being a victim. I am not! So, I decided to speak out and spread what happened so that people are careful in future.
  • I had heard that taxi drivers in Mumbai had done this kind of thing in past but, I had not taken those cases seriously. Why? Because of the typical mentality that "It will not happen to me". I often used to wonder "How can this happen?"
But, this happened. Money can be earned back but, those men broke an unspoken trust. I tried to help them by offering the change but they had malicious intentions.

Be safe. Be alert. Please let your friends and family know about this. Those men will reap what they have sown.

What should a man do if he is losing interest in the woman he is engaged to?

Q: I have been engaged to a girl for 2 months. We talked over phone for the last 8 months. She is not that beautiful, and she is short (5'). My parents like her family very much. After the engagement I am losing interest in her. She loves me too much. I am very confused about her.

When I saw her first I straightaway rejected the proposal, but then my parents started persuading me for this match. She belongs to a well off family. The social statuses of our families match. Both families like each other. I didn't realize her height when I saw her first as she was wearing high heels. On persuasion of my parents, I started talking to her on phone in order to discover more about her. She looks good in photographs. It is the thing which kept me believing that she looks nice. Having talked to her for such a long time, I developed a liking for her that prompted me to say "yes" for this match. However I was disappointed when i saw her on my engagement. I have conveyed to my fiancee that i don't have much interest in her. She told me to take a decision quickly whether to continue with her or not. In case my answer is still "No" she even told me that she will initiate a break up so that i will be spared from blame.

She is average in studies and other activities and i am from IIT. From the beginning itself she was asking me what is there in her that prompted me to say Yes for her. She was even saying that i could have got better match than her. I could only say that i like her easy going attitude. She never complained me about anyone/anything and this is the thing which i liked in her.
A: Are you Kidding man! You have yourself given a description about her qualities which is making me feel that she is a gem.

She is extremely beautiful as far as I can understand from the details given here. And, you also like her a lot. Only thing is that you are a bit confused as you wanted gold and you got diamond. Miracles do happen.

Don't judge her beauty by mere her external appearance. See the attitude she is carrying, she is an epitome of selfless love and devotion and you cannot find another girl as beautiful as her.

Get down on your knees, hold your ears and apologize to her.   She is really easy going but she is still a human. It must have hurt her when you told that you don't have interest in her.

You have mentioned that you are an IITian and she is average in study. Dude, take a bow from me that you are IITian. I failed to enter IIT despite two sincere efforts. But, allow me to say that she beat you in "Attitude". Take it as a compliment :)

What is your height? I was just wondering if 6'4'' Amitabh Bachchan can develop a liking for 5'2'' Jaya Bachchan then hope you can also realize that 5'0'' for girls is not a bad height.

You are a lucky guy. Your life will be beautiful with a girl with such a resolved attitude. Even after the engagement, she is ready to let you go and also to take the blame of break up on her head. Who does that?

I wish I can find someone like her. Really feeling jealous of you man!

All the best for your wedding...

Which is better: Sapoorji Pallonji or L&T?

LARSEN AND TOUBRO

This is a biased answer as I am working for L&T Construction on it's prestigious Mumbai International Airport Project and I am happy with the challenging roles offered here.

I am working in Mumbai and people will treat you with respect when they come to know that you are in L&T. The reason being the strong base of L&T in Mumbai.

Go to any restaurant in Powai and ask for corporate discount ranging from 10-20%. (Well this is available for all the big corporates)

They provide employees with the best facilities. You will still find people complaining because " Ye dil maange more" (People want more).

The work is challenging, the salary, perks and perquisite are good. The fully furnished free accommodation is awesome. No electricity bills to pay, No hassle of renewing rent agreements, No deposit money to be submitted for accommodation. You needn't spent a penny on commuting to and from office.

The Snacks, Refreshment are free and Meals are heavily  subsidized. And, working on a Project gives a startup culture in a MNC.

Going to see off your relatives or friend on the International Airport when you have Airport Entry Pass is an incredible experience. You feel like a host and people are amazed that you can go to see off them till they go for boarding. Normal visitor passes don't ensure this :)

For me, it has been a roller coaster ride. Your work pressure fluctuates like the share market but there is fun in working on a project that touches life of millions of people.

By the way, Sapoorji Pallonji is also good.  One of our colleague joined the Riyadh Metro Project of S&P. Employees of L&T go to S&P and vice versa.

As a fresher, enjoy whatever you get to learn, be flexible, work hard initially as gradually you would be in a position to deal with works in a better way. Don't consider any work as unworthy and less important. Focus of learning and don't bother much about the company you are working for. Be cheerful and all the best for a successful career. Feel free to get back for any kind of career related queries.
