I wanted to change my name when I was 12 years old. I didn't liked that it was so uncommon. So, I researched and tried to get it changed to popular names like Ravi, Rahul, etc but I was a kid and my parents enjoyed my suggestions for a name change. They never protested and I lose the interest to change it.
Now, I am glad that my name didn't changed. I love it because it is a little uncommon. However, it has got glamorous over all these years and we have characters in movies and advertisements having my name.
Why I am sharing this?
Name has nothing to do with your career or life. Rather that worrying about a change of name. We can put that energy in trying to change our bad habits and replace them with good ones.
Parents have emotional sentiments attached with our name. My Dad named me Rohan because he was a cricket fan and his inspiration was the Great Indian Cricketer Sunil Gavaskar who named his son as Rohan due to his admiration of a great West Indies Player Rohan Kanhai. Rohan means rising up. I found out this few years ago. Ask your parents what was their reasoning behind naming you. There is always a wonderful story behind every name.
No one can stop you from changing your name. But, is it truly worth it. If you feel that by changing it you will feel better then good for you. But, I am an emotional fool and I will not do something that hurt my parents.
My Maths Teacher RB Sharma never revealed his full name for 2 years. But, one day, when he was in good mood, we pleaded him to tell his name. He told and we fools started laughing.
His name was Ram Bhawan Sharma and he felt that it doesn't suits his personality and so he preferred to use his RB Sharma as his name everywhere. But, he had a good sense of humor and he made us realize that his name was good as Ram is a Hindu God and Bhawan means Building.
Hope this answer will be a little helpful though I have not tried to write a answer that you might have wanted. By the way, what is your name and what you want to have now?
Thanks for your time :)
