You don't have to sacrifice everything, rather you have to prioritize all the activities you do. Also, anything that is pulling you away from your target is a bottleneck. You must identify all the bottlenecks and remove them.
Please make it clear to your friends that you have to play it hard to nail GATE and IES with an awesome rank under 100. You have to make them understand that you have to dedicate maximum possible time to fulfill your dream.
It is the wonderful time to test who are your true friends. I have been in a single room focusing on my dream in a similar situation. So here are my two cents:
Fill your room with hand written inspiring messages and inspirational posters and make it clear to everyone that you are preoccupied with something with is truly important for you right now.
Those so-called friends who found your room as save haven for merry making shall move out of your life as they have no reason to stay and the true friends will not bother you anymore and they will go out of the way to help you fulfill your dream.
The so-called friends are like a pendulum, they keep going away and coming back to us ( when you will clear Gate & IES)...let them do that but recognize that they are not a friend. A true friend will come in your life to stay for a life time :)
People come for a reason and leave for a reason. Let them come and go as they desire, just make sure that they don't block the way. All the best!
