If you are in India, our women often do so just to avoid getting undue attention from the strangers (men).
Being a man, I am pained and ashamed that women feel uncomfortable on streets or public place just because of men.
I try not to look at any women while walking past them just to make sure that they don't feel uncomfortable.
It is one out of many serious issues that women face everyday. Let us admit it and find ways to curb it.
Every girl must tell her brother not to make other girls uncomfortable in any way as being a girl they don't like it. I am sure this will work.
