Famous Failures that Inspire us

  • Bill Gates dropped out from college but most of his classmates completed college. They started working as senior executives in various companies like IBM, Microsoft, Honeywell,etc and what Bill Gates did. He was the OWNER of Microsoft.
  • Mahatma Gandhi was thrown out of a Train in South Africa by Britishers, he threw Britishers out of India.
  • Galileo was considered mad for telling that Earth revolves around the sun against the popular belief that Sun revolves around Earth. Later, after his death people realized his invaluable contributions. So, don't get disheartened when others don't recognize your talents. Keep shining:)
  • Sachin Tendulkar wanted to be a fast bowler. But, the great Australian fast bowler, Dennis Lillee was not impressed with his bowling and he advised him to concentrate on his batting and he turned out to be one of the greatest batsmen of all times. He served as a ball boy in Cricket world cup of 1987 but was on the shoulders of his teary eyed teammates after the win of the Cricket world cup in 2011.
  • Demosthenes was a nervous stammerer who later became a well known Greek Orator.
  • Albert Einstein was mocked for the Theory of Relativity. He deserved a Nobel prize for that but the scientists of his time  failed to understand it. He was awarded Nobel Prize for a much lesser invention later in life.
  • MS Oberoi was a simple clerk but that didn't prevented him from following his passion and he is the owner of one of the biggest chain hotels in the world.
  • Larry page failed to sell Google to Yahoo and now Google is way bigger than Yahoo!
  • Henry Ford failed in the first two businesses he set up but later founded a successful company.
  • Helen Keller was blind, deaf and dumb and faced apathy from people still she became a world renowned writer  by this determination.
  • Abraham Lincoln failed to win even smaller elections, failed at business, failed in personal life but at the end, became President of US. It all hard work. No effort is wasted ever.
  • Homer was blind and no one thought that he would become the greatest  Greek Writer.
  • Steve Jobs hired John Sculley, a Sr- VP Marketing in Pepsico. Steve Jobs asked him " Do you want to sell sugared water for rest of your life or you want to come and join me and change the world?" Sculley was inspired by Jobs and he joined Apple. Within two years he changes Jobs with the help of other Board Members. It must have been painful to have been kicked out of one's own company. What he did? He moved on and founded other companies which were not that popular like Apple. During the struggle, he amassed wonderful skills that proved vital when he made a re-entry into Apple as a CEO after 12 years. This attitude and determination makes him a Youth icon across the world.
  • Michael Jordan couldn't make it to his high school basketball team and later on became one of the most popular basketball player.
  • Amitabh Bachchan was one of the top actors of Bollywood of 70's and 80's. In late 90's, his Production house tanked and he was Bankrupt but not broke. He made a comeback in bollywood and this time he was even more successful after initial hiccups. In 1999, he was named the "Greatest Star of stage or screen of the Millennium" by BBC News Online Poll. He is still active in Bollywood and has been entertaining audiences for four and a half decades.
  • Soichiro Honda  founded Honda after being turned down for an engineering job by Toyota. He was so lucky and so are we when we don't get what we want in life. 
  • Rajat Sharma was from a lower middle class family. They didn't had TV in their home. So, he used to go to other's house to watch TV. One day the doors were closed on him when he went to watch TV.  He was humiliated and to encourage him, his Dad told that " Do something that you are always on TV". Those words struck the right chords and he is always on TV as the chairman and editor in chief of an Indian Hindi news channel, India TV. He is one of India's most prominent journalists and the anchor cum host of the evergreen talk show,  Aap Ki Adalat. Salute!
  • Walt Disney was mocked by a Newspaper Editor for lacking ideas. The editor must be crazy :) He started his business from a garage and his first cartoon production went bankrupt. He didn't lose hope. His company " Walt Disney company" is among the top five production houses of Hollywood.
  • Brian Acton was rejected for a Job  by Facebook  as didn't had the relevant skills. Oh! really. He founded Whatsapp. Later, Facebook had shelled out $19 Billion dollar, i.e. approx 1,20,000 Crore to acquire Whatsapp and make Brian Acton a Facebook Employee. ( Always think of him when you fail to get through any company. That's the attitude! Bang on.)
  • Charles Darwin was considered mad and people thought that he was good for nothing. He started getting popularity after publishing his book after the age of 50 years. There is never too late.
  • Ratan Tata was mocked by Ford Motors when he went to sell the group's fledgling car business to them in 1999, but just nine years later Ford approached Tata to take over their brands Jaguar and Land Rover (JLR) to bailout their company. Tata obliged. In 1999, Ford told that when you don't know how to make passenger cars why you got into it. In 2008, they told that you are doing a great favor by buying JLR
  • Don't let others judge you as even Charlie Chaplin came second in Charlie Chaplin's look alike competition.
