13 TIPS for regular studies

There are various elaborate and good answers here. I will try to bring something fresh to the table. I will share 13 tips for regular studies which are based mostly on my experience as a former IIT JEE Aspirant:
  1. Discipline: It is an important attribute to excel at studies. For doing well you need to study all the subjects, you can't afford to flunk in Chemistry test as you study all day to solves questions of Maths.
  2. Make a routine and keep it flexible: You must have a plan for your study. Identify your strengths and weakness. Study difficult topics when you are more energetic.
  3. Know your strengths and weaknesses: You have to turn your weaknesses into your strength and at the same time you have to get more stronger in your favorite areas.
  4. Respect your teachers: If you respect your teachers then you will definitely study regularly to perform well in class and in the tests. The respect for teachers will make you work hard to held your head high in front of your teacher.
  5. Healthy Competition & Good Company: A healthy competition always gets the best out of a student. If you have a friend or classmate with whom you compete then you both will work hard regularly to excel. Be in good company  and you will learn new ways  things.
  6. Believe in Barter System: Learning from others can be very helpful if we work smartly. You can teach someone what you have already studied and understood properly. In turn, learn from them a topic you find difficult to understand on your own.
  7. Motivation: For studying regularly you have to be focused. When something goes wrong then you tend to get distracted and feels upset. Here motivation is needed. Read/Watch motivational stuffs regularly to stay focused always.
  8. Power of Social Network: You have got amazing people like Balaji ViswanathanSeema Shah here on Quora. Treat them as your virtual mentor and get the most from the technology. Learn the discipline, patience, humility and many more good qualities from them.
  9. Health: The weather is changing, you have to take good care of your health. How can you study regularly if you fall sick often. ( PS- I have cough & cold and luckily my sister has recovered from fever and cold, she has a Campus Interview on 23rd July,15 )
  10. Do something you love: Passion is very important to be successful in your studies. So, to regularly study,  daily do something that you love, it will make you feel good and will encourage you to keep studying.
  11. Study is marathon: You have to be slow but steady and you need to study regularly and make small but significant progress everyday towards your goals.
  12. Be Creative: Try to be creative to find new ways to solve a problem. Make study  fun, don't take much stress and enjoy your journey. Life is beautiful.
  13. Best Advice: (Plan-Do-Check-Act) Plan your studies. Make a to-do list and Do it. Check what needs to be improved- Act on your plan. Practice a lot and feel blessed that you are among the few who are fortunate enough to have access to education.

An amazing short story on Presence of Mind

It was the year 1997 when  many people planned a mass protest against a transport company. People felt that the company is not paying due attention to quality of service. After an outstanding run of two years, the company was going through a lean patch. They earned bad reputation because of couple of incidents of unacceptable behavior by their drivers.  Then few serious accidents also made the matter worst for them.

The employees of the company were in constant fear to lose job as they could sense the public sentiment against their company.

A mass protest was scheduled on a sunny afternoon to put pressure on the government to ban the company from operating.

But then...the owner of that company came with a unique idea.

He asked all his drivers to ferry people to and fro from the place of protest free of cost so that people don't face any trouble in commuting.

People were surprised by this move.  They couldn't understand what made the company to facilitate a protest that will ruin their business. But, the confusion diluted the intensity of the protest.

Some felt that this was a heart heartwarming move by the company... Few felt that the company is trying to bribe them.

But, when the people started to discuss the public opinion.

Everyone was surprised that the majority changed stance and felt that the company must be given an opportunity to improve and should not be banned.

So, in this way by his out of the box thinking, the owner of the company averted a disaster saved his company and thousand of jobs. Later, he never looked back and became one of the best company of the country.

Why is Quora predominantly popular in India?

  1. The Population of India is 1200 million which is approx. 4 times of USA's population of 300 million.
  2. I assume that Quora has 1,00,00,000 Users
  3. So, 20.8 % of Quora users from USA means 20,80,000 Users
  4. 41.3% of Quora  users from India means 41,30,000 Users
  5. The ratio between quora users from India to USA is 2:1, whereas the ratio of population of India to USA is 4:1
  6. Although, 41 % users are from India but quora is more popular is USA than India.Just because of our population, we have more headcount on quora.
Update:

Wait ! I am not done.  Statistics is Funny. Let us see the analysis the other way round. ( Based on number of Internet Users  in both countries irrespective of their population)

The Internet Users in India is 300 Million and the same is USA is 266 Million. So, if we consider the Internet versed public then, Quora is more popular in the internet savvy people of India that the same community of USA.

Why Quora is more popular in India's Internet savvy public than their brethren in USA?
  • Around 50% of India's Internet savvy public is below the age of 25 whereas the internet penetration is USA is relatively uniform irrespective of age or class.
  • It means approx 150 millions students, graduates, undergrads, new employees in India are at Quora. Whereas, in USA, I don't have datas, but i am sure this would not be more than 30 % of their 266 mn internet users, i.e. 80 millions. ( because they have internet users in all age groups)
  • So, you can see that we have more students from India on quora, almost double the number students in USA and this is the reason Indians are thriving on Quora. The Indian students have transformed their free time into a productive hobby by becoming an active users.
  • I am a 2011 engineering undergraduate, who always felt himself to be tech savvy. But, I registered for quora only last month after Varun Rai came to our office as Intern. So, you can say he introduced me to Quora. Many of my friends and family came to know about quora from me. Quora has a long way to go in India

The Tribute: A Moist Farewell to our beloved Dr. Kalam

Yesterday, at around 9:15 AM, I got the shock of my life when I came across a news item with a garlanded photo of Dr. Kalam  with a heading " Minister pay homage to Dr. Kalam".

On seeing that, I shouted in the office, Oh! my God...Kalam is no more...when did it happened?

Then my colleague told me not to worry as  Dr. Kalam  is all right. A minister garlanded the photo of Dr. kalam against the Indian Tradition of not putting garland on the photos of people who are alive. So, the media had put that incident as a catchy news headline.

I was relieved.

But,  within twelve hours, at 9:03 PM, got a message that Dr. kalam is no more as he passed away due to massive cardiac arrest.

I immediately  crossed check this from  reputed news portals while praying it to be hoax  but  I was stunned to know that he had departed.

I felt terrible as if someone from my family has left me forever. I have never ever mourned so deeply over the demise of a public figure. This loss was personal.

Yesterday, I completed 4 years at my first job and wanted to celebrate it in style. But, this news tore me apart and I was choked and not in a position to follow news channels or pay tribute to him.

May his soul rest in peace. He has departed but his legacy will always be there in the form of his numerous books, lectures, talks and quotes that will keep inspiring the mankind to rise above all adversity and be humble on receiving success.

Yesterday, I died a bit, but, I would bounce back, getting stronger and more better. You were my role model, you are my role model  and you will always remain my role model.

While, writing about him, by remembering him, I feel like weeping like a child but I am in my office and I don't want to show my teary eyes to anyone.

Do I need permission to share link of other bloggers?

Response to a Ask to Answer on Quora

Q: If I am creating a blog on Top 10 something or content aggregation/curation website, do I need to ask permission from other bloggers before posting their link?
After all I am increasing traffic to their blog!

A: Hi Yoshita, I don't think anyone will object to that. However, when ever in doubt, contact the blogger whose link you are sharing. In fact they will be more than happy.

One free advice: I don't know your purpose of blogging. But would request you to have a mission for your blog.

Blogging is not a tool for earning money as it may take years to get the traffic to earn from it.  I would suggest you to start blogging only if you are truly passionate about writing.

Do it, if you have passion for blogging. I have written 6 practical tips to start blogging. It will be helpful for you. you can find it on my blog Life is Beautiful .
