When You lost And We Both Won

Raj said, " Check Mate... I defeated you in my first game of chess"

His Father, " Oh! Well done... I'm so proud of you.

After 15 years, Raj asked his dad, "How I could've defeated you as a kid in chess. You were a champion, Dad.

His dad smiled and said that you have not defeated me. I lost the match and we both won.

( Raj is a rising star in the world of chess and really his dad won even when he lost that one game of chess).

Adorable Moments

Someone asked her what kind of boy, you want to marry.
She replied, "Someone like Krish".
Well, she is my 2 year old niece and Krish is a 3 year old cute neighbourhood boy.
The way she says "Krishhh jaisa" (like Krish), it's so adorable. We keep asking her the same question for 20 times to enjoy the way she tells it.
Please mimic her response like a 2 year old kid and it will bring an instant smile on your face.
Kids are adorable.
(People who are child-like, not childish are also adorable.)
When the last time we met, my sister hold her ears and made faces asking me to forgive her for hurting me. (Fun is that I wasn't hurt when she was pulling my leg, in-fact, I was enjoying and adoring the creative ways used by her while asking for forgiveness). Then, I coldly said then that I am not angry, still, I forgive you.
The next moment, she folded her hands and asked me to put my hand on her head to bless her. I was taken aback. It's not we do. I felt  a sensation which can't be explained. Next day, she had a flight to Bangalore and I faked my sadness as my anger for being teased by her. The results blew my mind. She is adorable, her act is now registered for eternity.....sisters are adorable.
Thank you God for giving me a little sister and a younger brother too.:)

Once, she read an article where I used "little sister" for her. She had a heartily laugh and the she said, "Little sounds like I'm a 5 year old kid". Ah..her smile was so adorable.

Ten dirt simple hacks to say goodbye to "Over thinking"

  1. Have your emotion for less people and things.
  2. Don't get overtly attached to something or someone.
  3. Success is temporary, failure is not permanent.
  4. Have a 10 minutes daily ritual for overthinking at 8:00 PM.
  5. Learn to be disciplined and teach your mind to overthink at 8:00 PM.
  6. Channelize your overthinking into beautiful piece of art. Draw sketches, write poems, stories, fiction, etc. Get the creative juices flowing.
  7. Be busy in meaningful things. Engage yourself constructively and there is no time for even that 8 PM daily ritual. Trust me!
  8. Start giving back to people around you online, offline.
  9. Don't expect anything from anyone. It's difficult yet possible.
  10. The positive vibes you'll release now, travels to far off places, even thousand miles away to help, cheer and inspire others. And, when someone gets inspired, you get back the positivity spread by you, which is now ten times stronger that what you released. What goes around comes around getting stronger. (But, remember-S.No-9)

How Can A New Blogger Attract Audience?

I am in a good position to help you because of my diversified experience as a blogger with multiple blogs on quora and google.
Here are some lessons that would be vital and valuable for you as a blogger to attract audience.
1. Nobody is interested in making your blog a success. You gave link to your blog but pardon me, as I didn't checked it.
2. Be Interesting. You could've written a  brief description about your blog. My friend, you missed an opportunity to convey what kind of blog it is. (See how I'm describing my blogs)
3. Target Audience - Who are your target audience. Find them. No...create value foe them and let them find you.
4. Quality surpasses Quantity.
5. Don't start blogging if you want to earn some quick money. Only start blogging if you've a passion for writing and helping people.
6. When you write about your experiences that has high value for people then they would come and follow your blog to learn.
7. Don't ask anyone for a favour unless you've helped someone. It's better to give favors. What goes around comes around. :)
I run many blogs. Here is a glimpse.

Session with Rohit: Learn Tips to crack PSU Interviews

If you have queries related to ISRO or anything else that might help you crack interviews of PSUs. Shoot your questions as comments. I will then act as a medium between you all and Rohit. I know he don't likes writing but he is a wonderful guy-my college roommate and one of my best friend. I will interview him and get your doubts resolved.
Follow this blog Career Consultant to get notified.
Know a bit about him,
My friend Rohit Mittal cleared ISRO's Interview and here are some things that I learned from him which will help you crack it.
  1. Focus on Fundamentals and have a sound technical knowledge.
  2. On a scale of 1 to 10, he rated the interview's difficulty as 8.
  3. During his time, only 15% weightage was for Interviews and balance 85% weightage was for Written Test. Hence, if someone is too worried about the interviews then they can score better in the written test to compensate a little lacuna in the interview.
  4. The same guy cleared Jindal Steel and Power Limited, worked there for 7-8 months, paid a little over two lakh as bond breaking value.
  5. Finally, he joined BHEL as the joining came before ISRO.
  6. He was the same guy who came out early in an exam and when I asked the reason as the paper was lengthy, "He replied that he has wrote enough to pass the exam".
  7. He is sharp. He is a child prodigy.
  8. Toppers from my college failed to get into any of the PSUs and this guy was cracking one exam after another.
  9. If many people are interested, I will look forward to request him to reply to your queries.
  10. Haven't I told you that he is one of my best buddy. Dost fail ho jaaye to dukh hota hai...dost top kare to jayada dukh hota hai... Kidding :P (It feels bad when a friend fails, it feels worse when a friend Tops an exam)

What Are The 11 Myths People Have In their 20s About Career & Life?

  1. I have failed, I envy others.
    1. Nothing is permanent.
    2. Failures are commas not full stop.
    3. A girl failed to get Science as she got less marks in Class Xth and hence she opted for Commerce. Many frowned upon her. Today, I got to know that she did LLB and after than did her Masters from Europe and has got an hefty offer.
    4. I work for the largest Construction company in India and make a little less than half of her salary.
    5. Although Money, College, Job, etc are poor benchmark of success yet I have used money as a benchmark just to give an idea about how the society judges us.
    6. Never envy others and learn to appreciate others when they achieve something good. She is a wonderful person and I am happy that many will be inspired to know about her.
  2. I am waiting for the perfect moment- There is nothing called perfect moment. Try to get the maximum out of whatever you have. Minimize Procrastination, and never wait for the perfect moment. Life happens when we wait for the perfect moment.
  3. It has been too late to learn or take charge of our life- It is never too late to learn and improve our life. Do you feel that you have not achieved enough at say 21 years.
    1. Let me share about APJ Abdul kalam. He was a popular scientist but he became world famous after he was chosen as India's president at the age of 70 years. He was literally unknown till 70 years of age.
    2. Charles Darwin, yes from your Biology Textbook was considered as Insane as till 50 years of age, according to people he was a wanderer. He was doing research and when he published his book after 50 years of age, he started getting recognition.
    3. Albert Einstein has worked as a Clerk but that didn't prevented him from becoming a great scientist of all time.
  4. I don't have zeal to learn- Larry Page invented Google and it became a dream company for many people.
    1. He just followed his passion. May be he was also not having the zeal to learn or work on the traditional subjects. So he created something new.
    2. Initially, he even went to sell it to Yahoo, who felt that it was too overpriced.
  5. Our Problems are terribly difficult- Our problems are not as difficult as it seems to us. 20 years down the line it will hardly matter if you got a plum job after college or you are jobless, if you have a GF/BF or not in college, if you have failed in the exams or have topped it. Meet me after 20 years and we will discuss your current problems over coffee.
  6. I am Good for Nothing-  Everything in this universe is for some purpose. Crocodile cannot fly and Butterfly cannot swim. There is no point for the crocodile to feel bad that he cannot fly or the butterfly to feel bad for not being able to swim. Doesn't it makes sense. Same is with all of us. We just need to identify things which makes us happy.
  7. I have wasted X years of my life- We feel that we have wasted our life but you know, nothing is wasted in this world.
    1. Do you know the story of bamboo tree
    2. It doesn’t show sign of growth in first four- five years. But, in the next one year it will grow rapidly.
    3. Now, the reality is that the growth doesn't occur only in one year, it happens over a period of 5-6 years.
    4. During the first 5 years the growth of roots is happening and the foundation is getting stronger which let the bamboo to grow rapidly in last one year.
    5. Same is with all of us. We just need six months to a year to have a visible growth. [I've six month of my Unique Quora Experience which transformed me by leaps and bound]
    6. All the years before that are definitely not wasted. Believe me.
    7. Good experience gives you joy, bad experience build your character and personality. So, they both are equally important.
  8. I don't have Natural Talent- Galileo told that the earth moves around the sun. But at that time, Everyone  felt that he was wrong and people wanted to kill him. Everyone knew that  Earth was fixed and sun revolved around the earth, which was later proved wrong .
    1. Galileo was considered as a mad man all his life. The poor chap got all the recognition after his death. Even today all our textbooks are full with works of  Galileo.
    2. Not only him, Abraham Lincoln was unable to win even a local election, all his life he failed in whatever he did. He failed more than us for sure and see one day he became the president of US. It was not luck but hard work. Remember the bamboo story. See it's working.
  9. It will not work out- Follow your heart and chase your dreams as they are worth it. There is nothing which can't work out even when the idea looks ridiculous to others. The key is that you must believe in the idea, that’s it.
    1. In India, almost everyone loves cricket and is a cricket commentator.
    2. But, that doesn't stopped Harsha Bhogle from becoming a full time Cricket Commentator after his post graduation from IIM Ahmadabad.
    3. He must have been mocked for his choice of profession but he had passion for it and he pursued something he loved doing.
    4. If you are a Movie Buff - You can be an expert reviewer and can also earn and get paid for watching movies and writing reviews.
  10. I am at a Disadvantage- Disability is the inability to know ability. Read out the lessons from so-called disadvantaged girls, Virali Modi,  Miss Wheelchair India 2014, Runner Up and Ira Singhal, Differently abled UPSC Topper .Rohan Sinha's answer to When is it advantageous to be disadvantaged?
  11. I don't give a damn to People- The world is all about people. Make sure to be nice and respectful to others. Always strive to add value to the life of others. Never let good people go out of your sight. Thanks for your time.  :)

Should I Intern At A Startup Where There Is No Chance Of Getting Absorbed Or Focus On Getting A Job?

That's a wonderful opportunity . Grab it with both hands. Please ask yourself the following questions while working there to be assured that the ship is sailing in the right direction.
  1. Do you enjoy the work?
  2. Are you learning new things?
  3. Are you able to make contacts and do networking with people who can help you land in a decent job?
  4. Are you happy? Yes/No and why?
Work as an intern at a startup even after knowing that you will not be absorbed. It's so because you will acquire the right skills by working there.
Positives:
  1. Find something hard, challenging and learn it.
  2. It's not about what you do but how you do-Three workers were asked a question "What are you doing?" while they were laying brick during construction. First worker replied that he was laying brick, Second worker replied that he was making a room and the third worker replied that I am contributing in construction of a wonderful building. All were doing the same thing but their response was different. We all have to be like the third worker as seeing the bigger picture keeps us motivated. {From the book- You can Win}
  3. Networking-You can make contacts with other like minded people by working at that company. It will help you in getting job offers from well established companies.
  4. It will help you to land at a job at MNCs- Treat this as if you are working on a live project as an internship. It will boast your confidence, build your knowledge and would help you during on/off campus placement.  My sister is in INTEL because she worked hard on a live project learning many things at a healthcare startup. Only two people got selected in INTEL from her branch and both worked at the same startup.
  5. Knowledge is Powerful- I can say so confidently as my sister told me that recruiters were impressed with the knowledge she accumulated during her internship at the startup. It provided her with a cutting edge advantage over others.
  6. Industry Exposure- You get to know what you like or dislike much earlier than landing in a full time job. While working on Startup, you'll get hands on experience even when you are in college.
  7. Don't limit yourself- Learn a bit about HR, Accounts, Marketing, Technical aspects, Getting Investors, etc. You never know, while working as an intern, someone might get interested to hire you at a MNC.
  8. Lucky things happen when we keep doing many things.- We had an interactive session with the management and I was quite expressive in my feedback. Suddenly, our Project Manager said that we should start a magazine and I couldn't resist spilling the beans. I told about my study of human behaviour and then their curiosity lead me to reveal about my online activities like writing on Quora, running half a dozen blogs with over 500 blogposts, getting my suggestions featured in Business Insider, etc. I have been appreciated by HR, Project Manager, and many employees who were clueless about it. Most likely, I'm going to start a magazine for our Project after accessing the viability. That's a big thing for me and was quite unexpected. If Quora can get me an opportunity to start a magazine then working on a startup can definitely open many doors.
  9. Focus to get real work experience not just a piece of paper certifyingthat you worked for x months and you'll fetch great returns in the form of a successful career.
  10. I am working on the post- "What HRs look in an ideal candidate- 21 Tips everyone must know in their 20s to fast track their Career Growth (Pattern Series- 3 of 11)". Interested people can followPsychological Patterns for getting notified when I publish it.

A dog who goes to office everyday.

There is a dog...no..its not my pet dog. He is an orphan who was born and brought up near the vicinity of our office.
He does some of the most unusual things that I've ever seen a dog doing. He has melt heart of even the heartless with his sheer determination and love. This is his daily routine
  • By the time I get ready and go outside our flat, we find him looking at us affectionately.
  • Then, the cab will come to pick employees from the Guest House.
  • He will send everyone and I can see the guilt in the eyes of people who don't have place in the cab to accommodate him. He is a little dirty as nobody baths him... after all he is an orphan. :(
  • He jogs behind the bus and would reach office after 5 minutes. So, this way he jogs for 2 KMs every morning.
  • Now, he would relax and people would offer him breakfast and he would go to play and fight with his friends.
  • He is a free soul. He is not chained and he has no owners.
  • However, everyone has his share of joy and sorrow. He has many masters. They feed him and he licks their shoes. It was little awkward earlier, now he is a part of our daily life.
  • We discuss about the faithfulness of dogs. Everyone loves him.
  • I once wondered, "There are many dogs here but why we all focus on this one dog and no other dog comes near us in the loving way like his.
  • Came to know that we all are racist and it has something to do with his skin color.
  • Like all other's dogs, he is not brown...he is black. They all used to bully him.  And, so, he got adopted without a pact.
  • I learned that even dogs get bullied. They told that every street dog has his area and they pee to mark their territory.
  • My colleagues explained me all this with such sincerity like this question is going to come in semester exam tomorrow.
  • He reach the guesthouse five minutes after us. All day, he gets snacks like Biscuits... sometimes we feel that we are spoiling him as now he don't struggle to met his ends like other dogs.
  • But, he is like a kid. We love him...still I don't hug him...he is not neat and I'm someone who likes dogs from away or in pictures because as a kid I was really scarred of them.
  • He sleeps in the campus at night as next morning he has to get ready for office.
  • Some habits die hard. I still get scared to come near to him as I wonder whether he has been vaccinated against diseases or not.
  • And, that's How I met a dog who goes to office?
While I'm writing this at office, my colleagues sneak peek and  wish this post gets attention as if this happens, we would show this to our management and melt them to provide for this dog. Management looks for something out of the box. Having a dog that goes to office 6 days a week is a unique thing. What do you say? Dude, he has holiday tomorrow and he will be leaving now as how can he miss the legendary India Vs Pakistan match.
Our dog says love to you all...thank you. :)
PS- Now, when someone says, every dog has his day- I wonder if they know about our wonder dog or are they talking about me. !:)

Dark Side of Marriage

The dark side of a marriage is divorce or a life worse than hell for few couples.
These types of questions and the answers of the anonymous users scares me to death. I've friends who're under a feeling that their marriage may go wrong. How can they be so pessimistic even before getting married?
Marriage is a big milestone for any person irrespective of gender. I'm one such stone age guy who never felt like dating anyone because he was too sure that his parents are orthodox, which was a myth.
Hence, he never tried. He never regrets because he has done many other things in life. He is happy for those who have dated. After all, Life is a playground, everyone goes to the field and play different games -some play football, some cricket and some might enjoy badminton. So, those who play badminton shouldn't regret not being able to play cricket. However, there might be few who've played both.
I feel that it would be better to have a girl in life who is good at heart. But, trust me, how can you find those girls in an arrange marriage setup. Mom says that same dilemma applies for girls too while looking for suitable guy...well she has a valid point after all, they leave their home and come to new set up.
There have been incidents when one side will just send a photo and would ask for feedback. While I'm not blaming them but how do you expect someone  to say yes for marriage just like that. How do you know if someone is good at heart or a fake person. How does anyone else know how am I? After all having an image of a person from someone's online activity is also not always fully correct.
But, I would want to know from fellow Quorans about what can help someone find a spouse who can make their life more beautiful. Is there a way out to know the nature of a person before marrying them? Bhuvi Jain - Quora Mom, Please help.
Thought, I've asked it still a part within me feels that there is no point in asking others who don't know anything about us. Because, some journey's have to be travelled alone. It's our problem- To identify how to find a spouse who is compatible and has good nature. I would find a solution for myself, you've to take care for your own when the time will come.
Don't stereotype and get carried away by hearing only one side of a story- Every Failed Marriage has two sides of the story. I've found in some cases that both person considers themselves as victim and the other one as a culprit. That's best example of a lose-lose situation.
Just before winding up, I feel that I would be able to go out of the way to adjust. However, I truly don't know if I can ever live with a cheater or a wicked person. May be some questions should be left un-answered. Like someone who will go to orphanage not to cheer the kids but to get some selfies to post online. I read an answer on quora about someone who got really angry as they forgot the phone. Her smile got back once her friend brought the phone and she clicked pictures with kids to posts online. Incidents like these shames me as a fellow human being.
  1. Pictures + Good Intention behind a social cause) = Time Well Spent and a Life time Memory --A beautiful person.
  2. Pictures + (only for milking the holy cow for some likes or upvotes without any interest in the cause) = Ugly/Wicked person.
Can anyone provide some tips- gender neutral to differentiate between these the Ugly/Wicked and Beautiful person?
Beware of BNBR. No male bashing or stereotyping of Females will be tolerated. Looking forward for insightful, sensible comments that can help us be better.
My colleague who is a forced bachelor gave some wonderful lessons yesterday.
  1. After their engagement, they had a bitter fight over his addiction to smoking, drinking, chewing tobacco. He chose her wife over these. My respect for him increased by hundred folds as he quit all those and it has been 4 years to all those incidents. I'll post about his struggle to quit all these habits as a post on Psychological Patterns . Follow the blog to get notified.
  2. He told that I've a good habit that I talk to my wife daily (remember that he is a forced bachelor). He added, "Some people say that why you need to talk to your wife daily, she is wife, not girlfriend". His sarcastic reply is a relationship hack.
  3. He replied to that stupid friend, "If couples will not talk after marriage then when they should talk? Is it after their divorce?"
Take a bow my friend...you really showed me how marriages work....I would also encourage others to share such tips that help others who're or will be married.
