Different people have different versions of the same story

One old friend called me few days ago to share his frustration that Bangalore is cold about festivals. People don't celebrate any festival with zeal and fervour. He is well educated so he gave examples that Navratri is famous in Gujarat, Chhath Puja in Bihar & Jharkhand, Ganesh Puja in Maharashtra, Pongal in Tamilnadu Nadu, Onam in Kerala, Durga Puja in West Bengal, Christmas in Goa, etc.

But, he felt that Karnataka has nothing special about festivals. I scolded him that it's not possible as I have a kannada friend who has shared pictures of how they celebrate Ganesh Puja. She made decorations on the floor that we call Rangoli. The decoration was done with Banana leaves which is also used by us. She told that most of the homes in Karnataka celebrate Ganesh Puja and was so excited about this festival.

My brother is also in Bangalore and is full of praise for the way the Bangaloreans celebrate the festivals.

My roommate is from Mangalore and I know how much he celebrate festivals.

It is an irony that some people think that only their culture and traditions are good. All cultures have something good in them so we must take initiative to learn about the native people and their culture.
