Why do we find happiness in serving others?

  • Our problems are small- When we serve others, we are acting good and at that time we realize that our problem is not that big. You must have heard about the boy who stopped fretting about getting Adidas shoes instead of Nike when he saw a happy child without legs.
  • Happiness is a team player- I encourage others to ask me their career woes so that I can help them. It's never easy to answer them. But, we can always try to do the best we can. The person appreciates your effort because many a time they don't share those problems with anyone and hence when they write down their problem, they feel light and relaxed just by asking it. My mediocre answer also makes them happy and seeing their response makes me happy. It's a chain reaction. Happiness doesn't like to go solo.
  • It makes you a better person- When you think beyond yourself, you grow, you learn and it makes you feel better about yourself. Learn about others (not their personal life, of course). Be hungry for intellectual discussion with anyone and everyone. Life will hand you beautiful surprises at every twist and turn.
  • Life is all about People- You have all right to say that " I don't give a damn to what others say or think. It's my life my choice". You are correct to a certain extend. Yes, to a certain extend. Because, the causality of the  " I don't give a damn" approach are our own loved ones. Life is all about People. Always try to add value for others.

Simple ways to serve others

  • Say thank you and sorry more often and feel it every time you say so.
  • Offer kind words to those invisible people we see everyday- Lift man, Driver, Watchman, Peon, Office boy- They will appreciate it.
  • Give a warm smile to everyone you meet. Smile is contagious.
  • Often give Hug to loved ones.
  • Give firm and warm handshake.
  • Expect less and give more.
  • Always give benefit of doubt to others.
  • Be compassionate towards random strangers.
  • Be forgiving of the mistakes of others.
  • Be honest. Yes. Don't fake being someone you are not. Be genuine. Sooner or later, the mask will tear away and people will see the real you.
  • Respect time. Be punctual.
  • Buy me a coffee :)
