Real Story: She had a dream

She was an ordinary graduate from a small city in India who wanted to work . It was not so common for girls in her place to work in 2001. But, she had big dreams. She joined a six months diploma course for programming at CDAC in Delhi and worked hard to get a job as Software Engineer.

She got two job offers after completing her course. Life couldn't had been better for her. She chose the one that was paying more money.  She was so happy, after all she was earning comparable to her government employee Dad (if you exclude the perks of her Dad)

Destiny had it's own plans, few months after she got her job. The software industry crashed after the terrorist attack on the world trade center in US on 09th Sep, 2001.

She lost her job. She went to the another company that offered her job. They were also cutting resources and thus they didn't offered job to her now.

Her life had turned upside down. She hold her nerves during those difficult times. She moved to Bangalore and explored so hard to get job. But, the job market was bleeding. She kept failing to get a job.

She has been studious all her life. It was time to show her prowess. She did correspondence course from IGNOU ( Indira Gandhi National Open University) and after that she did a course in Finance Management from Pondicherry University. She got a job in Ernst & Young. After that, she did a course of SAP. It was difficult to clear the exam of SAP and the fees was high considering her modest background.

But, her family supported her and she cleared the SAP Exam. Later on, She got a job in IBM and they sent her to US. She was with IBM for few years and then switched to a US based company.

Her parents are retired and they visit her every year for few months. She is happy with her life, she is living it her way, she is getting the love and support of her parents. She is really successful in life.

I have never met her but she has influenced my thinking immensely. She is the sister of one of my friends. I wrote about it as people must know about the unsung heroes among us. Hats off to her for her grit and determination!!

Moral- We must never get discouraged by failures.  Struggle makes us stronger and prepare us for bigger success.
